Yammer, Twitter for Enterprise

Yammer, the twitter version for companies, works well for agencies and for open updates with dedicated clients channel, the team can share and contribute to each other. Yammer is an Enterprise micro-blogging platform, means it is secured and not indexed by search engine nor publicly distributed. Works exactly the same like Twitter, if you know how to text message, you’ll get this baby running in 10 seconds.

How you or your company can use this service:

  • Every team member will have a Yammer account, with desktop application (which will save you time from logging on to systems) and mobile app.
  • Everyone will be updated instantly via quick alert, short and direct to the point 140 character updates. See what your colleagues working on, reply and contribute to help your team.
  • The capability to set a team members update page, as well as dedicated open channel with clients. Update to client what we are working on for them, as well as for them to update us what they are planning on and how we can contribute back.
  • Coordinate a project not only with your team, but also with clients. Share files, update and comments, better collaboration and work flow, where everyone involved is definitely in the loop.
  • With the paid platform you will be able to white label the system, however free secured platform is still available for usage.
  • This will mean, less email bounce back and forth, recorded conversation and streamline simple update.

LinkedIn Companies Beta Update

Finally got a chance to have a closer look at LinkedIn Companies Beta after my last review, this latest update will give business owners the professional opportunities such as featuring product or service, gets recommendation and video introduction of their company.

The process are relatively easy:
  • Make sure you have one of your company email address confirmed (see here), otherwise you will not be able to see the edit company.
  • Several items that I'd recommend prepared in advance would be what's the nature of your business, the product you are trying to sell, consider the keywords that are related to your business, 100x80 pixels photo, key features, promotions, direct url to your website in regards to the service, your key contact persons and a professional video url via YouTube. I might also add, it might be beneficial to offer something free as sneak peek or incentive for those that discover your company or product via LinkedIn giving a bit of exclusivity.
  • You'll also get the customized company url free & automatic, might be a good idea to grab their badge and put it on your website.
It is also possible to add the company's twitter and RSS feed from your blog, however I have not seen it show up anyway, maybe a future feature?
As well as posting job openings available at your company, you can put it job description, who to contact and an optional referral fee.
However I have not seen the linkedin analytics yet, it might be available to premium members only.

Dell being one of the pioneering social commerce have start tap dancing around the linkedin companies profile, have a look at their company product & services here.
